Tragedy Oak

Tragedy Oak is a large oak that shaded the house and yard of the Brewer homestead.  It was named "tragedy oak" because the wounded and dead from the shootout were laid in its shade immediately afterward.  The tree blew down in a storm in 1995.  A piece of the Tragedy Oak is memorialized on the grounds of Pioneer Elementary School about 1 mile south of the site of the fight.

Below are some photos of Tragedy Oak over the years.
